Introduction
- Kolindros is a historical and traditional town in the
north of Pieria and its altitude is 350m. The first
written evidence about Kolindros was reveald in 1294 a.C.
Kolindros
is situeted in a panoramic position, next to Highway
among Thessaloniki (49th Km) and Katerini
(35th km).

The glorious revolution of Kolindros took place in this
area (1878 a.C) and its leader was the bishop
N. Lousis.
Also in Kolindros one can find the house where
Zorbas
the Greek was born.

There are two primary schools,functioning in Kolindros.
The building of the
1st primary school
is a very beatiful, neoclassic one, in the centre of the
town. The
second one
is almost at the highest part of the town. From this
school, there is a wonderful view of the surrounding
area and the magnificent natural environment.

The two kindergartens the
1st
and the
2nd
share the same space with the primary schools. At the
outskirts of the town there a nursery school, a high
school ans a
lyceum.

In
the last few years, there has been a rapid development in the
area. In the
Athletic Center
- the
pride of northern Pieria - there is a
swimming pool,
a gymnasium, a stadium, a basketball field, a football and a
volleyball ground, a tennis court, a cafeteria, an ope theatre which
is being visited by lots of people.
- Inhabitans

The majority of the inhabitans are farmers. They
cultivate tobacco and wheat trees (the
cherries
from Kolindros are famous and taste), peach trees and
other tree cultivations.
